Chapter Fourteen: Crowd

Inside the massive foyer of the Opera House, an even bigger crowd overflowed the building. Outside, a mass body of flesh stood, sat and lay down; waiting to enter the lobby, inside, the whole place was packed, but, thanks to connections, the girls were the first to the stand. They were in front of a long deck, set up in while and blue; it had plastic posters all over it, and before them sat three people, Jean Michel Jarre, Michiru, and Yaten.
At the far left, Jarre met with lots of fans, autographing, posing in photos, and answering fan questions, having a good yarn. it wasn’t long before he met two young girls, one, rather thin, a little pale and with straight black hair, the other a short, younger girl, pink hair, rosy cheeks, and a cute smile about her. Jean Michel couldn’t help but chuckle, ‘Hello, how are you two?’
Hotaru was blushing at the sight; her favorite musician was sitting right in front of her, her face was red, and Chibiusa turned to her, after a bit of a pause, ‘Hotaru,’, tugging Hotaru’s shirt, ‘he’s there! Talk to him!’
Hotaru was glowing red, and Jarre just laughed more, ‘Goodness, you must be very shy, aren’t you?’ She just nodded. ‘Well, let me tell you a secret!’, he offered her to lean forward, as she did, and he whispered, ‘You are a pretty girl,’, she gasped, the air drawn from her, ‘find a good man to be with, and your confidence will soar to the heavens.’, and with a little smooch on the cheek, Hotaru was fluro from blushing, she was so shy, and giddy from the little words of encouragement, she just laughed. Hotaru and Chibiusa both got themselves autographs and a picture with him, and, for the first time in a long while, Hotaru wasn’t pale, she was glowing.
In the middle of the decks, Michiru was chatting with Haruka and Setsuna, about the performance, and sailor business, the crowd’s hubbub proved to be, paradoxingly, a useful concealment. ‘Enjoy the show?’ Michiru asked.
‘Yea, loved Oxygené 4,’, Haruka replied, ‘and your little spill after Oxygené 8!’ she added, laughing herself to bits, Setsuna too.
‘Shut up!’, Michiru whined, ‘You guys were just throwing me off! I almost ruined it!’ After a good few seconds, and Michiru clearly showing her peeved look, the two settled down and apologized, ‘Sorry, it was funny, you have to admit.’, Setsuna begged.
‘Yea!’, Michiru replied, ‘So, onto the next site.’
‘I think you’d best ask Usagi,’, Haruka stated, ‘my guess is we’re following the tour, even to Japan!’
‘Even Japan?’, Michiru enquired, ‘Why Japan? There’s no gem there!’, she paused, ‘Is there?’
‘That’s the thing.’, Setsuna replied, ‘We don’t know, but I think it’s a bit of a coincidence the tour’s running along the very cities we’re tracking. There’s every chance it’s there!’
‘There’s also every other chance it’s not!’, Haruka said, ‘I wouldn’t count on it, like you said, it’s a coincidence, we can’t assume it’s there!’
‘Nor can we assume it’s not there!’, Michiru interjected, ‘Setsuna is right, while we haven’t found the other gem, it’s really weird to find the tour’s path is the cities we need to go to, it’s a surprising lead!’ They all sighed, ‘Maybe we better check it out with Usagi.’ They all nodded, and they all just took a photo.
Yaten was surrounded! By the girls! And Mamoru. ‘You’ve got a lot to answer for!’, Rei pointed at him, ‘Why are you here?’
‘When did you arrive?’ Ami continued.
‘How’d you get here?’ Makoto enquired.
‘What your motive?’ Minako queried, without knowing it, repeating Rei.
‘How are you?’ Mamoru continued the questions, but broke the mood.
Usagi was furious! She pushed everyone out, even Mamoru, ‘WHERE’S SEIYA?!’, she screamed, fumed at him.
In a much panicked voice, ‘I-I don’t know!’, Yaten replied, ‘We-we heard of, of a great damnation arriving to Earth, and-and we all thought to help you, for helping us defeat Galaxia!’ Yaten was quaking, the fury that was Usagi was looking incredibly volatile, and he just didn’t know what to say, but she does seem settled now. The girls, Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna, even Hotaru and Chibiusa, and Mamoru, all just sat and stood there, wide-eyed, in complete disbelief from Usagi’s eruption, waiting for the boiling lava to spew from Usagi’s ears, but it never came.
She was calm, and settled, she repeated the other questions in her calm voice, ‘Okay, so when’d you arrive?’
‘A-about a week ago, but we all split up, some new lights blinding us, and I guess we-we steered away from each other.’ Yaten replied.
‘Aha! So how did you arrive?’
‘Like we used to, fly across space.’
‘Okay!’, she paused, ‘So, you don’t know where Seiya is?’
‘I’m sorry Usagi!’, Yaten lowered his head, ‘No!’
A long pause, a very long pause. Just the noise of fans crowding, cheering, yelling, screaming. Yaten looked up, Usagi looked down, and the girls and Mamoru stood up. At first, he didn’t see it, but Yaten looked at Usagi, and he knew it! He noticed a small teardrop, it hit his desk. Yaten looked down again and whispered, ‘I’m sorry!’
‘I don’t mean to be a pain,’, Ami apologized, ‘but we must continue with our mission. Where’s our next target?’ No reply. ‘Please, someone answer!’
Rei walked up to Ami’s ear to whisper, ‘Just shut up about it!’, Ami gasped, ‘Discuss it later, let Usagi be.’
However, Usagi turned to Ami, ‘You wanna know where we’re going?’. Ami was worried at the next words to come out, ‘We’re following the tour, next stop, Cairo!’ Ami breathed a sigh of relief.
